Pre-test swim test must be scheduled before the first day of class. Pre-test: Swim, tread, swim sequence: Swim 150 yards using either breaststroke or front crawl (demonstrating breath control), then tread without using hands for 2 minutes, and then swim 50 yards. Brick test: swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10lb brick from 9 feet, and swim 20 yards with the brick and exit the water in under 1 min & 40 seconds.
This course will provide lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies and to provide care for injuries and sudden illnesses. Participants will receive a certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED valid for 2 years. Course requirements: Interested candiddates must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled class. Attendance is mandatory at all classes. Candidates will be required to pass a swim test on the first day of class, to continue with the course.
